50th Birthday Celebration Schedule of Events (All times are approximate)

Noon – 5:00 pm

Carnival games, Vendor /Craft Booths, Food vendors:  Fletcher’s Original Coney Dogs, Clair & Sons BBQ, Burgerlicious, Bahama Buck’s (residents eat free with ID; non-residents $ 15 per meal), Historical Museum. Face Painting, Photo Booth, etc.

12:00 – 12:30 pm

Flag Ceremony and Celebration kick-off with the introduction by Mayor Patrick Johnson of Area Dignitaries, Former Mayors, Former and Current Council Members, 50th Birthday logo contest winner, and Time Capsule. This event is a testament to the vibrant community of Double Oak, and we are honored to have each and every one of you as part of this celebration.

12:30 – 1:00 pm

Bonnie Morrow will recognize the founders of Double Oak by introducing Mr. and Mrs. Double Oak. This is followed by Max Miller of the Cross Timbers Gazette, who will interview some of the first residents of Double Oak.

1:00 – 1:20 pm

Little Mr. and Miss Double Oak Contest: This is a fun-filled contest for our young residents. See the flyer on the website for an entry form or check in at the registration table by 12:30 on May 18th. A parent or grandparent must be a resident of Double Oak.

1:20 – 1:30 pm

50th Birthday Cake Cutting

Cake Walk: Bring cakes to the pavilion by 1 p.m. The walk will be held throughout the afternoon while baked goods are available.

1:30 – 4:30 pm

Live Music by Double Oak residents Pete and Patti Fisher and Molly Dobbins.

4:30 – 5:00 pm

Recognition of the Retirement of Eileen Kennedy, Town Secretary, and acknowledgment of additional Town Administration, Double Oak Police Department, National Police Week, Double Oak Volunteer Fire Department, Double Oak Women’s Club, and 50th Birthday Celebration Sponsors and Birthday Event Volunteers.

5:00 - 6:00 pm

Park area clean-up and 70’s dance party set-up.

6:00 – 9:30 pm

70’s Dance party with DJ and 70’s attire contest. Come dressed up and ready to dance to your favorite 70’s tunes. Light snacks, water, and sodas will be available while supplies last. B.Y.O.B. for adults over age 21; no alcoholic beverages will be served.
